This brings to mind an early conversation with a collaborator with whom I did not end up working well and who has long since lost contact with me. She said something like, "You should memorize your pády first." Except she said it in a way that was much more obnoxious. Something like, "You really suck, before I can work with you, you really ought to take the time to try to make an effort to memorize pády. THEN we will be able to get some Czech learning done."
As if memorizing Czech pády was NOT real learning. Ha. HA.
Lady, even if I am looking at a poster on my wall, copying the patterns down, it is STILL hard and I STILL make mistakes.
